Security

Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA)
The VTRA (Violence Threat Risk Assessment) process is an evidence based, structured process used to assess potential threats of violence in individuals or situations. It involves evaluating various factors such as behavior, communication, and context to determine the level of risk posed and the potential strategies to mitigate that risk.
VTRA procedures are often utilized in educational settings, workplaces, and communities to enhance safety and prevent violence.
How to report worrisome behaviours
Reporting worrisome behaviors is vital for campus safety at 51ÊÓƵ. Anyone displaying worrying signs should be reported promptly so that a supportive plan can put into place that also mitigates risk and keeps our community safe.
- If you are concerned about someone or in doubt about whether the behaviour merits reporting, CONSULT with:

Threats of imminent violence whether written or verbal, in-person or online, warrant immediate attention.
- If an individual becomes aware of a potential risk of violence, call Campus Security at 705-722-4000.
- If a community member poses an Immediate threat or is already engaging in violence, follow the 51ÊÓƵ . Get Out. Hide. Fight.Ìý
- Contact emergency services by dialing 911 when safe to do so.
- Provide all known details or information surrounding the incident, the threat, and threat-maker.

Lost and found

Lose something or find something on campus?ÌýWe can help!
Report or claim a lost item
- If you’ve lost an item, come to the security office in E006 (Barrie Campus) or the main office at all other campuses.ÌýA security guard will begin the process of reuniting you with your property.
- You’ll be asked your name, student number, contact information, details regarding the item and where it was last seen. We’ll then enter this information into our missing item database.
- If the item hasn’t been turned in, we’ll notify you if/when it is.
Turn in a found item
- If you find something, please bring it to the security office in E006 (Barrie Campus) or the main office at all other campuses.
- You can also call us to have a guard come collect it, pending other calls for service.
- When turning in an item, be prepared to let us know who you are, where you found it, and when it was found.
- We’ll cross-reference our missing item database and return it to its owner.
