Game-changing innovation drives 51ÊÓƵ’s 2025-2030 strategic plan

51ÊÓƵ has launched its , focused on game-changing innovation, unrivaled experiences, and transformative and career-focused education.

In a time of rapidly evolving labour-market needs and geopolitical shifts, Georgian’s strategic plan illustrates how it’s positioning itself as a strong community partner that stays ahead of changes to remain innovative and develop a future-ready workforce.

The strategic plan, called , sets the college’s direction for the next five years, and was unveiled during the college’s annual Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Entrepreneurship Day. The timing underscores a commitment to turning bold ideas into real-world impact through research, creativity and community partnerships.

Our next strategic plan builds on our areas of strength and outlines how we’ll continue to lead with highly responsive programs, reimagined services and supports, collaborative partnerships, and creative solutions to meet complex challenges – including evolving labour-market shifts.

The strategic plan was developed as part of a thorough community consultation process.

Over the course of 120+ days, 51ÊÓƵlistened deeply to its many constituents – from students and alumni to industry partners, Indigenous communities and beyond – who shared insights, ideas and feedback on how the college can make the greatest impact. 51ÊÓƵgathered more than 5,000 contributions through a community survey, interviews, focus groups, engagement events and more.

Our strategic plan reflects insights and feedback we heard from our constituents about the kind of institution they’re looking to us to be – one that’s bold, cutting-edge, daring and ready to meet workforce, productivity and community challenges. Our plan also maintains the important elements that make us who we are: profoundly caring, supportive, nimble and consistently striving for excellence.

The plan outlines five specific commitments to be met by 2030:

  1. Transformative education: Strengthen Georgian’s position as a postsecondary leader recognized for cutting-edge programs, curriculum and experiential learning that give our students and partners a competitive edge. The college will improve equitable access to education to all, closer to home, along with expanding pathways and flexible delivery options.
  2. Unrivaled student experience: 51ÊÓƵwill continue to grow its reputation for providing a warm, and supportive campus environment and streamlined, student-centred services. The college will prioritize work-integrated learning, strong industry connections and early career preparation in every program, ensuring graduates are ready to succeed from day one.
  3. Community impact: As a catalyst for economic and social development, 51ÊÓƵwill deepen its regional and broader influence. The college will respond to regional, national and global workforce needs and foster collaboration across campuses, disciplines and sectors to drive meaningful change in the communities it serves.
  4. Global connectivity: 51ÊÓƵwill elevate its global presence by expanding partnerships, supporting international learners, and offering more global learning opportunities. This includes strengthening wraparound support for international students and enhancing the college’s ability to quickly respond to new global opportunities.
  5. Organizational excellence: 51ÊÓƵaims to be recognized as the most innovative institution in the Ontario college system. The college will focus on quality, innovation, collaboration and  and creativity, while also developing new strategies to ensure long-term financial sustainability.

Along with these commitments, Georgian’s strategic plan outlines new core values and a new vision statement, along with three foundational threads woven throughout everything: Equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, Indigenization, and changemaking.
