Every dream deserves a chance
I knew 51ÊÓƵwas the right choice from the moment I stepped onto campus.
From the small class sizes and hands-on learning opportunities, to the student-led fundraising initiatives and seeing the success of 51ÊÓƵgraduates that came before me.
And as I think back to my time as a student at Georgian, I realize that college alumni were with me every step of the way. As volunteers and mentors, and as donors – supporting the dreams of future alumni.
As a student Governor and member of the 51ÊÓƵ Students’ Association, I learned a lot from 51ÊÓƵalumni. You encouraged me to stay committed to my goals, and to follow my passion. You helped me to realize that I’m part of a family that is much larger than the students and faculty on campus…to realize that I’m part of the 51ÊÓƵGrizzlies community for life.
And now, as a graduate, I follow the powerful example that was set by you during my time as a student.
This past year, I was pleased to be one of nearly 500 donors that supported 51ÊÓƵstudents through awards, scholarships and emergency bursaries. I am also a proud to volunteer with the Alumni Association Executive Council.
From my own experiences at Georgian, I know how important student awards, scholarships and emergency bursaries can be for someone experiencing financial challenges or food insecurity. I’ve watched dreams come to an end because someone simply couldn’t afford to go any further.
You’ve probably seen this too.
Launching this year is our new Grizzlies Give Back Alumni Fund – a fund that is fueled by the passion and commitment of proud 51ÊÓƵgraduates, and designed to put money directly into the hands of the students that need it. With the donations raised from this year’s Alumni Fund, we are creating the 51ÊÓƵAlumni Bursary – funded by alumni and supporting students to help them thrive.
As a fellow graduate, I am now asking you to consider joining me in making a donation to help our students through the financial challenges that many of them will face in the year ahead.
